JS Wright completes its highest-value contract

The biggest contract ever for JS Wright of Birmingham — the £21 million Park Plaza County Hall Hotel in London.
Birmingham building-services provider JS Wright has completed the £4.6 million fit-out of the 14-storey Park Plaza County Hall Hotel near the London Eye. The 2-year project was the biggest in JS Wright’s 118-year history and has resulted in the company’s work in London accounting for 70% of its forecast turnover of £19 million for 2007/8. The company was commissioned by Galliard to install 4-pipe fan-coil units in each of the 396 suites, most of which have a fully equipped kitchenette and living area. The company also fitted supply and extract ventilation, hot- and cold-water services, gas, above-ground drainage, smoke exhaust systems and dry risers. Experience in hotel projects was applied to save Galliard about 10% of costs on its initial plans by applying a series of tried-and-tested value-engineering techniques. Marcus Aniol, managing director for JSW, says, ‘We are delighted to have completed our biggest-ever project for a company with which we have enjoyed a successful 10-year relationship and are continuing to work with on major London hotel and housing schemes.’
