Waterloo chilled beams tested to new European standard

Waterloo Air Products claims to be the first company in the UK to meet a European for testing and rating active chilled beams. Tests on Waterloo’s chilled beams were carried out by BSRIA to ensure they conform to the new European standard (PR) EN 15116 on chilled-beam testing. This standard is being introduced across Europe and provides performance data to the latest available specifications. Carl Gipson, sales director with Waterloo Air Products, says, ‘We started this research because we want to ensure that engineers can rely on our data and that there is no uncertainty in selection and application.’ BSRIA carried out the tests in a specially built laboratory with 66 test configurations, including different nozzle options and varying air and water flow rates. The test process also highlighted areas for increasing the performance of chilled beams in future product developments.
