Sunderland riverfront site earmarked for mixed-use development

Arrow Commercial has appointed the northern office of Faber Maunsell to provide design services for this £10 million development in Sunderland. Subject to planning consent, Arrow will create a river-front mixed-used development to be known as The Edge at Scotia Quays on the River Wear. Working with Fitzarchitects, Faber Maunsell will deliver specialist design services, including M&E engineering, sustainability, geotechnical, environmental, civil and structural. The building will have a glass atrium For the residential part of the scheme, the developer is aiming to achieve level 4/5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating for the rest of the building. The 5-storey development will create 220 m2 of self-contained exhibition space 240 m2 of open-plan leisure space, 1630 m2 of office accommodation on the first and second floors, 18 2-bedroom apartments and two penthouses.
