Multi-function fire detector and alarm

Fire sensor
By combining fire detection and alarms in a single unit, Gent’s S-Quad delivers significantly reduced installation-costs
By combining several functions of fire detection and alarms in a single unit, Gent’s S-Quad significantly reduces the cost of installing fire systems and the risk of false alarms. These combination sensors offer the option of an integral sounder with speech messaging and a built-in strobe. A single device can detect smoke, heat and carbon monoxide. S-Quad is designed for use with Gent’s Vigilon analogue addressable fire system. Patented features include a dual-angle optical detector than can distinguish between smoke, steam and dust — so that it can be used in hotel bedrooms, where smoke detectors are not normally installed. The incorporation of carbon-monoxide detection is said to virtually eliminate false alarms. There are 10 variants of S-Quad. Those with sounders or strobes are powered from the loop, and do not require a separate electrical supply. Up to 125 sensor/sounders and 55 sensor/sounder/strobes can be accommodated on a single loop. Voice messages and complex tones (such as a bell) lasting up to 20 s are stored in a speech chip. They can be customised and easily changed any number of times.
