Atmos exploits solar energy

Atmos
The SolarCombi system from Atmos Heating Systems is said to halve fuel costs and CO2 emissions compared with conventional gas heating systems. There are two installation options, bringing together the MonoSolar drainback system with the Inter or Multi range of condensing boilers. The MonoSolar comprises a 100 l insulated thermal storage tank with an integral copper-tube heat exchanger, variable-speed pump, electronic control module and a drain-back solar collectors. Heat is transferred via the heat exchanger to tap water to save up to 1500 MWh of gas a year. When the tank is above 50°C, water is sent straight to the tap, bypassing the boiler. When the tank water is below 50°C, pre-heated water is sent through the boiler to be topped up to 60°C. The low volume of secondary water combined with the copper-tube heat exchanger protects against the formation of legionella bacteria.
