Inspiring the engineers of the future

Over 150 sixth-form students from across London took part in this year’s ‘Engineering your future’ (EYF)event at the Institution of Civil Engineers. This one-day event is now in its eighth year and aims to provide students and teachers with a better understanding of the opportunities offered by a career in engineering. EYF was supported by London-based companies Mott MacDonald, Lotus Cars, BP Shipping and Bovis Lend Lease. Four interactive sessions were hosted by young professional engineers from different engineering disciplines, followed by a careers session. Jacki Bell, London region director of the Institution of Civil Engineers, says, ‘A career in engineering is an important and rewarding one, especially in London. The EYF events have inspired many of London’s most talented young people to make a difference in the world through becoming an engineer.’
