Delighted AstraZeneca engineer wins our prize draw

Jon Sparrow
Modern Building Services’ prize-winning reader — Jon Sparrow of AstraZeneca.
The winner of the prize draw for those of you who registered by 30 September to receive Modern Building Services every month is Jon Sparrow, a project engineer with AstraZeneca at Macclesfield. He has chosen to receive a luxury Harrods hamper. Commenting on his decision to receive copies regularly, he said, ‘MBS is an extremely good publication covering a broad spectrum of new and established technologies and carrying something for the whole building-services community, from the “techie” to the technophobe. As an end user, I find articles relating to sustainability, increases in operating efficiencies, safety, health and the environment and future trends of particular interest.’ When we telephoned him with the good news we, perhaps unsurprisingly, received a suspicious reaction. Having recovered from his surprise, he told us, ‘I must admit I was surprised and rather sceptical when I was advised of my good fortune in winning this prize draw. I can’t ever recall winning anything like this in the past, and I was somewhat sceptical as telephone calls out of the blue advising one of this type of event have a habit these days of being part of some form of dodgy scam. However, delighted I am, and the hamper will be a welcome addition to our Christmas fare.’
