Early fire alarm warning on construction site prevents widespread damage

Remotely monitored wireless fire detectors on a construction site in Yorkshire have prevented an arson attack causing massive damage.

An arson attack on 60 flats being built by Clayfield Construction at Normanton in West Yorkshire was prevent from getting out of control by an early warning from the Tag Guard Fire Alert system used at the site. Smoke activated the detectors, which sent a signal to Tag Guard’s remote monitoring station. The monitoring team alerted the security staff on the site, who called the fire service. The fire was brought under control before any significant damage resulted. Better known for anti-theft and anti-vandalism security systems, Tag Guard has developed a range of fire-alarm products based on the same proven wireless technology. More stringent health-and-safety legislation along with insurance-policy requirements mean that, increasingly, construction sites must have adequate fire-control and fire-alarm measures.
