Ability shows its fan-coil capabilities in Sheffield

130 fan-coil units
The supply of conditioned air for this development in Sheffield is controlled solely by varying the speed of the fans in every one of over 130 fan-coil units from Ability Projects.
Over 130 fan-coil units with infinitely variable speed control of each fan have been installed in the second phase of Castlegate Square in Sheffield. Made by Ability Projects, the 4-pipe Matrix Trojan EC fan-coil units enable the volume of air through each duct to be balanced through fan speed alone, removing the need for volume-control dampers. These fan-coil units are also designed to adjust the overall air volume according to room occupancy, thermal demand or a combination of both. The Matrix system is fitted with a BACnet open-protocol intelligent controller, factory pre-wired to the fan coil and complete with dedicated software. This controller incorporates modulating valve control, on-coil temperature sensing etc. It also offers wireless acess from a PC to all fan-coil features and settings without needing access to the ceiling void. These fan-coil units were installed by Emcor Engineering Services. They have cooling capacities from 0.6 to 6.8 kW and heating capacities from 0.6 to 22.6 kW. They are installed throughout the six floors of this 4000 m2 project. Specified noise ratings are NR35.
