British Council Office
The regeneration of this office in central London has won the innovation award from the British Council for Offices.
Great Portland Estates has won the British Council for Offices innovation award for the redevelopment of 180 Great Portland Street in London. This Edwardian block has been reconfigured into 10 000 m2 of offices, with careful architectural consideration incorporating a number of sustainable construction qualities. To overcome limited headroom, AET Flexible Space System incorporating Hiross underfloor air-conditioning was specified by consulting engineers Cundall. The existing floor voids also accommodate all cabling and power-distribution services. The energy consumption for air conditioning is expected to be 20 to 30% lower than a conventional VAV and fan-coil system.
