Fort Dunlop meets Andrews

The new Travelodge that is part of the major redevelopment of Fort Dunlop in Birmingham has three gas-fired storage water heaters from Andrews Water Heaters to supply domestic hot water. The water heaters meet all the DHW requirements for the 10-storey Travelodge — including bedroom showers and wash hand basins, bar/cafe kitchen and staff toilets.

Each water heater has a capacity of 276 l and a particularly rapid recovery rate of 1365 l/h through 50 K. The horizontal flue option was chosen for this project, owing to the special nature of the roof — which is the country’s largest green roof, planted with sedum and providing a rooftop promenade. A 7 bar unvented kit with each water heater ensureS that water is supplied at constant pressure despite the height of the building.

These water heaters were specified by consulting engineers Bennett Williams and installed by MITIE Engineering of Tamworth.
