Coastguards warm to Ambi-Rad

Ambi-Rad
The task of heating two hangars of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency has been entrusted to Nor-Ray-Vac radiant heating.

How do you heat a helicopter hangar with a door that takes up one side and which is opened frequently to let helicopters manoeuvre?

For two hangars operated by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MVA), the answer was to install Ambi-Rad’s Nor-Ray-Vac radiant-heating system. This continuous-tube system emits low-intensity heat with even distribution. These installations were specially designed to direct heat away from the tops of the helicopters to protect them and prevent heat being directed straight onto workers on top of them.

For the Osprey 2-bay hangar at Vac systems were specified, four with 46 kW LR burners and two with 38 LR burners.

For the 3-bay Daedalus hangar at Lee on Solent in Hampshire, nine 46 kW LR burners were installed.
