Piping system combines appearance with low noise in Manchester development

Polypipe Terrain, pipework
The low-noise characteristics of Terrain Acoustic dB12 piping system have enabled it to be used as a design feature in the car park of the Abito development in Manchester.

The Terrain Acoustic dB12 piping system is part of a package of products from Polypipe Terrain installed on a new residential development in Manchester’s Salford Quays. The mixed-use Abito development built by Ask Life uses exposed water and soil pipes as a design feature in the car park and basement levels. This required a piped system with a suitably high-quality appearance and a high level of acoustic insulation, leading to the selection of Terrain Acoustic dB12.

This piping system can substantially exceed the sound-performance requirements of the Building Regulations. Its multi-layer construction and acoustically insulating fittings increase soundproofing in a building without the need for additional materials and onsite labour.
