Durapipe enabled cooling to be upgraded while computer centre remained occupied
Durapipe’s pre-insulated pipework system Duracool was been specified for the refurbishment of the computer hub in Woking Civic Centre. Renovation was needed as the existing system could not provide the required cooling capacity. Xergi Services was given the task of developing a solution that could be installed quickly with minimal disruption to staff, who could not be relocated during the renovation.
Xergi decided to fit two systems — chilled water for normal use and an electric system for backup.
The Duracool pre-insulated system was quick to install because no further time was needed to insulate it, which would have been difficult as access to part of the pipe run would have been impossible post-installation. No hot work was needed.
The pipework was specified in 75 and 140 mm sizes to carry chilled water from a CHP and cooling network.
