Village hall converts from electricity to biomass

Electric storage heaters in this village hall in Dorset have been replaced with a biomass system using a Windhager boiler.

Windhager’s BioWIN wood-pellet boiler has been installed in Netherbury Village Hall in Dorset as part of a complete refurbishment and extension of the building. The project was funded by the Community Buildings Programme from the Big Lottery Fund. The 26 kW boiler was installed by Wessex Ecoheat to replace inefficient electric storage heaters.

Fuel is stored in a Windhager BioTOP external storage hopper with underground hose so that fuel can be sucked to the boiler.

Fuel is supplied by a local company which checks the fuel level each month.

All Windhager’s biomass heating systems are certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme, so installations will qualify for the Renewable Heat Incentive due to be introduced in April 2011.
