Co-operative Group looks for new HQ to be carbon negative

Building-services consulting engineers S. I. Sealy has been appointed detailed engineering designer for the new headquarters building of the Co-operative Group in Manchester. The building will include 30 000 m2 of open-plan offices over 16 storeys and will become an iconic building on Manchester’s skyline. The appointment was by Rotary North West.

The Co-operative Group is looking to achieve an ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM rating for this building and for it to be carbon negative, so it was crucial to appoint a strong and proactive mechanical and electrical contracting team.
