Heat pump can be installed in the roof space

Smith's Environmental, heat pump, renewable energy

Smith’s Environmental has launched a central-heating system powered by a 4.5 kW air-source heat pump. The Ecolectric system is described as a cost-effective renewable-heating solution that combines fan-convector and heat-pump technology for maximum energy efficiency.

The heat-pump unit has been designed forindoor use and has minimal vibration and virtually no noise, so it could be used in the roof space of a property.

The heat pump can be teamed up with Eco SlimStream down-projection 12 V fan convectors, which are claimed to be 31% more efficient than a radiator when running at a lower water temperature. Their water content is only 10% that of a radiator of the same output. Air is drawn from the middle of the room, so draughts at floor level are eliminated.

Models with higher outputs are planned for the future.
