Liverpool Travelodge contract goes to Kimpton

Kimpton Building Services

Kimpton Building Services has won the M&E design and installation contract for a 141-bedroom Travelodge on Liverpool’s waterfront. The site is a derelict former car park next to the Liverpool One retail destination. Installation of services for this 10-storey building is expected to start in March, and Kimpton will have to overcome the accessibility challenges of the development, which is on a very tight site in a built-up area on one of Liverpool’s main through routes.

The contract includes heating to all bedrooms, air conditioning and ventilation in public areas, including the reception and cafe/bar areas, plus the domestic water and drainage services. Kimpton has also designed the ventilation provision for the kitchen and bedrooms, comprising a natural air intake and mechanical extraction system. The company will also design and install all the electrical services, including the fire-alarm system, the disabled refuge system, lightning protection and the UPS system for the lifts.

The scheme has been designed by architects Leach Rhodes Walker of Manchester.
