SPIE UK has won the award for tackling climate change by the City of London Corporation at The Sustainable City Awards. For over 30 years, the company has seen energy reduction as a vital part of its service offering to the built environment in major projects that have included PFI hospitals, airport, education, commercial and infrastructure.

Most notably, the group has been recognised for its efforts in reducing energy consumption by Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport, innovations in design for energy and sustainability on education projects such as West Thames College and technical excellence in carbon-reduction schemes such as trigeneration on Transport for London’s Palestra Building.

James Thoden van Velzen, CEO, says, ‘It is great to have won this prestigious award for the climate-change category. As SPIE UK employees, we must all continue to play our part in the green economy.’
