Hydropath helps maintain solar hot water efficiency

Hydropath, solar thermal, DHW. water conditioning
Helping to ensure the continuing efficiency of the solar-thermal hot-water system at this guest house in Ringwood are Hydropath water conditioning systems.

To help maintain the efficiency of two new solar-thermal systems to produce domestic hot water for The Candlesticks restaurant and 8-bedroom cottage-style lodge at Ringwood, Hydropath Hydroflow HS38 water conditioners have been installed. These devices prevent the build-up of limescale by emitting randomly varying electric signals throughout the system to reduce the effects of hard water.

They were installed on the recommendation of Jayhawk International, which installed the solar-thermal systems. The company’s Eric Hawkins says, ‘Just as British Gas recommend the installation of Hydroflow units on gas heaters, we strongly recommend the same water conditioner for our solar-thermal installations.

Early indications are that this solar-thermal system will meet 95% of requirements in the Summer and 23% in the Winter — averaging 65% over the year.
