New hospital building features services design by Hulley & Kirkwood

The recently completed new wing for Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust includes an M&E services installation for which consultants Hulley & Kirkwood were responsible from inception to completion. The 5-storey 25 407 m2 Hope Building was delivered on programme and on budget. It houses a new A&E department and 242 beds, including a 55-bed emergency-assessment unit, 32-bed critical-care unit and new facilities for renal, intestinal failure and urology services.

The project benefits from significant off-site prefabrication to optimise quality and speed of installation, as well as reducing risk to site operatives. Services were installed by Balfour Beatty Engineering Services.
