Wolverhampton bus station opens for business
Wolverhampton’s new £22.5 million bus station, the busiest in the West Midlands, has opened on time and to budget after 15 months of development. Hilson Moran was appointed M&E and public-health engineer for this first phase of the much larger £174 million Wolverhampton Interchange Scheme by developers Neptune.
The redevelopment has delivered a state-of-the-art 2-storey building for Centro, the integrated passenger transport authority for the West Midlands. There is a travel centre on the ground floor, a Network West Midlands section and retail units on the ground and first floors. Work included the refurbishment of the existing landmark Queen’s Building.
Hilson Moran has been appointed BREEAM assessor to certify the sustainability rating of the scheme.
