Lighting in chilled beams sets new standards

BT
Sophisticated lighting was added to the chilled beams for this major BT project by Cooper Lighting & Security before delivery to site.
Sophisticated lighting technology for multi-service chilled beams installed throughout BT’s new Internet Protocol Management Centre building at Adastral Park, Martlesham, was designed and made by Cooper Lighting & Security. This is believed to be the first time that such sophisticated lighting technology has been built into chilled beams. The lighting includes standard Coolstar low-voltage dichroic downlighter and 500 specially developed T5 recessed fluorescent luminaires. The Crompton Intellect Digital lighting-control system and the Intellem emergency-lighting self-test system are also included. With close co-operation between Cooper and the chilled-beam manufacturer, the lighting systems were pre-assembled into the chilled beams, tested, packaged and shipped directly to site. BT was very keen for the Intellect Digital lighting-control system to be included in the chilled-beam design, having used it at several other locations. Using occupancy detection, daylight sensing and communication between luminaires, Intellect Digital Intellem minimises energy consumption while providing high-quality lighting.
