Surface trunking brings new dimension to electrical installations

A decorative trunking system for concealing small power, data wiring, appliance cables and pipework has been introduced by D-Line. The system has a semi-circular or quarter-circle profile and comes in six colours (aluminium, black, oak effect, white, magnolia and red). There are four sizes of semi-circular profile from 16 x 8 mm up to 60 x 30 mm. The quarter beading is 30 x 30 mm, and can be used in corners, as a coving or as a flooring trim. Compartment dividers can segregate cables into two or three sections. Access to cables and pipes is by a hinged lid system. A self-adhesive back secures lengths of trunking, without disturbance, to the wall or floor. There is a range of 300 accessories, including corners, switch and socket boxes, T junctions, end pieces, couplings, dividers and box connectors. Open-back accessories enable cables to be connected and accessories retro-fitted to quickly finish an installation. D-Line trunking comes in lengths of 2.4 m, which fit into a typical small van, and 3 m, which extends from a floor to the ceiling. Dave Milbourne, D-Line’s marketing manager, says that the idea began when a client asked for a time-saving alternative to recessing cables and pipes. He explains, ‘Installers will find D-Line a lot easier to fix because the single piece makes the product easier to handle and cables easier to fix, while the open-back accessories mean cabling can be done and accessories retro-fitted quickly to finish an installation. D–Line has been designed to provide a fast-fix solution that just blends in.’
