Ascon prepares to make waves in the hydronic-systems market

Ascon
Ascon International has launched the H2O Hydrotech mini chiller and HydroIntel control system into the fan-coil market for air conditioning.
Ascon International’s H2O HydroTech mini chiller minimises the amount of refrigerant needed for an air-conditioning system by delivering chilled water to fan-coil units. Savings on installation can be achieved since standard plumbing fittings and tools are used, as opposed to specialist refrigeration equipment. The HydroTech system allows complete flexibility of design, with no limit on the type of indoor fan-coil units (wall mounted, ceiling exposed, ducted or cassette) that can be connected to a correctly sized chiller. Control of room temperature is very stable, especially if modulating control valves are used to ensure regulated water flow at a constant temperature. Chillers can be operated at the same time as external boilers to provide simultaneous heating and cooling. The HydroIntel controller enables the chiller and fan-coil units to work together and set parameters for chillers and fan-coil units at the same time.

More refrigerant bans possible, says government

The government could tighten up the rules that restrict the use of global warming refrigerant gases including speeding up phase-out programmes and introducing new bans, according to a spokesman from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

Baxi research suggests schools strongly support heat decarbonisation

A survey conducted by Baxi of 200 state school estates managers, consultant engineers and M&E contractors has found that while enthusiasm for Net Zero and support for low carbon heating systems in schools is thriving, persistent barriers remain.
