NG Bailey uses BIM for Birmingham University contract

NG Bailey, BIM

NG Bailey is providing M&E and IT services for Birmingham University’s new 18 000 m2 Institute of Art & Design. The contract is worth £15 million, and NG Bailey will be working alongside main contractor Willmott Dixon. The project is using building information modelling (BIM) from concept to completion, which is expected in 2013.

The building will be a dedicated teaching facility with TV and radio editing suite, theatre spaces, photography and graphics studios and a variety of workshops.

Steven Griggs, managing director for Bailey’s south-east division, says, ‘We hope to use this build as an example to the industry of how BIM can improve the efficiency and accuracy of a project and how it should be a standard element of the construction process.’
