CPD on phase-change material in ceiling tiles from Armstrong

Following the launch of its CoolZone system based on the use of phase-change materials to provide thermal mass in ceilings, Armstrong Ceilings has introduced a RIBA-approved CPD. Called ‘Using phase-change materials in construction for a more sustainable built environment’, it is designed to explain how phase-change materials can be used to create a more energy-efficient and comfortable environment and how they support high-performing sustainable properties.

The CPD advises on the how, what, where and when of PCMs in new build and refurbishment projects. In tests, CoolZone ceiling tiles delayed the onset of air conditioning by 4 to 5 h in an average office. Such a delay can reduce air-conditioning energy costs by about 40% and reduce peaks in demand.
