Southbank Centre appoints Arup for refurbishment project

Southbank Centre in London, the UK’s largest arts centre, has appointed Arup to project manage the extensive refurbishment of the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Hayward Gallery complex. This refurbishment and renewal project will bring performance spaces and galleries in the complex up to the standard of the recently transformed Royal Festival Hall and better access.

The project includes substantial upgrading of the stages and galleries and back-stage areas and address worn-out services. Arup worked on the original designs in the 1960s and is working closely with the Southbank Centre and architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, appointed to develop design proposals for this part of the 21 acre site.
