Kentec helps upgrade fire alarms in cinema

Kentec, fire alarm
Using wireless technology enabled the fire-alarm system in London’s Prince Charles Cinema to be upgraded in just two days.

Kentec fire-control panels have been chosen as part of a upgrade of the fire-alarm system at the Prince Charles Cinema in the West End of London. The upgrade was designed and installed by Fire Systems. Originally designed as a theatre, this is the only independent cinema in the West End. The addition of a second screen required the fire-alarm system to be upgraded to accommodate the new building layout.

The new system is wireless, and Fire Systems installed it in just two days with no disruption to the working of the cinema, the fabric or decoration of the building.

The new 2-stage addressable system comprises a Kentec Syncro single-loop AS analogue addressable fire-alarm control panel with public and non-public modes. A 3-minute timer gives staff time to investigate any alarm.

Wireless detectors from Argus Security are installed on all escape routes and areas of high risk such as plant rooms, electrical intake areas and machinery rooms.
