Improving efficiency of DHW from combi boilers

DHW, combi boiler, CombiSmart, Westco

By delaying the release of domestic hot-water from a combi boiler until the boiler has reached the optimum temperature, CombiSmart valves save energy and water. The device is proving popular with housing associations and local authorities, and over 40 are now trialling it.

They are distributed by Westco, which reckons that a CombiSmart can save up to 32 000 l of water a year and 727 kWh of gas. The cost savings are £33 for gas and £84 for water — a total of £117.

CombiSmart is a compact inline device that can be installed in 10 minutes with simple tap connectors. These devices are WRAS approved.
