Chris Sneath, who served two separate terms as president of the Building & Engineering Services Association (then the HVCA) has been appointed a Member of the British Empire in recognition of his outstanding service to the heating and plumbing sectors. His terms of office were 1990/91 and 1996/97.

In the early 1990s, he played a pivotal role in the Latham review of procurement in the construction industry, which led to the introduction of contracts legislation to provide protection of particular value to specialist and sub-contractors.

He has also been deputy chairman of the Construction Industry Board, founding member of the Plumbing & Heating Industry Alliance and Master of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers.

He is currently chairman of WaterSafe, which is committed to contributing to the safety of drinking-water supplies through the development of a national approval scheme for plumber and associated installers.
