Scotia chooses Danfoss controls for energy-saving new homes

Energy-efficient control of homes built by Scotia Homes is provided by Danfoss TP7001 programmable room thermostats.

To provide accurate control of space heating in new homes, with a potential 10% reduction in energy consumption, Scotia Homes is fitting Danfoss TP7001 programmable room thermostat. They feature a chrono-proportional control that calculates how long the heating system needs to be on to main desired comfort levels.

The latest project is to install these programmable room thermostats in larger family homes on two new developments in Aberdeen. They offer 7-day programming with up to six time/temperature changes per day. An optimum-start feature enables the device to calculate the latest possible time for the heating to be turned up to achieve the programmed temperature at the programmed time.

Other features include an automatic clock that is preset to adjust automatically to summer/winter time changes. A holiday mode provides constant-temperature operation before returning the unit to programmed thermostat mode.

Scotia Homes prefers the hard-wired mains-powered model, but the TP7001 is also available as a battery-powered version.

Gordon Gerrie, plumbing, heating and electrical manager with Scotia Homes, comments, ‘Our homes are designed to help lower energy bills and the carbon footprint of the development, now and into the future. To complement energy-saving features such as highly efficient insulation and modern condensing boilers, we install TP7001 programmable room thermostats to keep the boiler running at optimum temperature in condensing mode.’
