Energy-efficient heating and hot water for the purpose-built building of John Lewis at Home and Waitrose in Ipswich are provided by five boilers and a calorifier from MHS boilers. The equipment contributes to the building’s BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. The Thision L boilers each have an output of 145 kW, and there is a 3000 l Inox-Maxi calorifier.
Stuart Watson, engineering manager at John Lewis Property Services, was responsible for the specification of the heating plant. He said, ‘We’ve worked with MHS for a few years now, and every time we’ve installed their products, we’ve been really pleased with the levels of performance and reliability.
‘This is the first time we’ve had a combined plant room to supply a John Lewis and Waitrose store, but the systems have been working perfectly, while providing the required efficiency levels for the highest BREEAM rating.’
The stores share an entrance and customer cafe. Other energy-efficient products include LED lighting and HFC-free chilling capacity.
