Flagship Vietnam hotel gets the UV treatment

Hanovia UV systems ensure water safety at Novotel’s flagship hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

Safe water in Novotel’s flagship Saigon Centre hotel in Ho Chi Minh City is ensured by the installation of six Hanovia UV systems for treating service water, leaving it good enough to drink. They kill any micro-organisms from the incoming city water supply, providing a minimum 99.999% reduction in E.coli, Cryptosporidium, Giardia, legionella and other harmful microorganisms.

Hanovia’s Asia Pacific manager Ying Xu explains, ‘Even though hotel tap water is not intended for drinking, UV provides that extra level of health and safety for guests in case they inadvertently drink the water, such as while brushing their teeth or inhaling water aerosol while showering.’

He points out that UV is the World Health Organisation’s recommended disinfection method for removing Cryptosporidium and Giardia.

This installation comprises six single-lamp AF3 amalgam UV systems treating water flows from 26 to 30 m3/h. City water passes through sand filters to storage tanks, from where it passes through the UV systems before distribution.

Running costs are very small, with an energy consumption of less than 0.01 kWh/m3 of treated water.
