Circulator legislation — one year on

Grundfos Pumps, pipes, pipework

It is a year since legislation changed the circulator market in Europe. All glandless circulators, except those specifically designed for primary circuits or solar-thermal systems and heat pumps, must have an energy efficiency index (EEI) of less than 0.27. Stricter changes are due to take place in 2015 and 2019.

Grundfos’s range of domestic circulators achieves an EEI as low as 0.15 and run on as little as 5 W.

The energy-saving opportunities of such products have recently received an important acknowledgement. Following lobbying by the pump industry, the BRE has agreed to include circulator pumps in the Government’s Green Deal scheme.
