Powrmatic meets heating demands of former aircraft hangar

Powrmatic, space heating, unit heater
The 600 kW of heating needed for this former aircraft hangar is provided by Powrmatic warm-air units.

Heating for this former aircraft hangar of 2700 m2 is provided by six warm-air heaters and nine destratification fans from Powermatic. The Climate Control division of Tidyco supplied and installed the equipment as part of the refurbishment of the hangar at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicestershire. All the units have been painted black to blend discreetly with the dark roof space of the building.

The site was a military airfield from 1942 to 1972, when it was converted to a test vehicle site for Chrysler and Peugeot. In 1983, the current owner, C. Walton Ltd, set up a diverse range of businesses under the Bruntingthorpe brand, providing vehicle testing and storage as well as hosting a wide range of corporate events.

The hangar is used as a test track for the motor industry and is used all year round.

Four 90 kW and two 120 kW suspended warm-air heaters have been installed in the roof space and combined with destratification fans to ensure that warm air is circulated efficiently. The heaters have a net efficiency of over 91%.
