RHI payments will cover cost of biomass installation in five years

Industrial GRP, a manufacturer of glass-reinforced plastic products expects to recover the initial costs of its new biomass boiler heating system in just five years from RHI payments alone. There will also be a significant reduction in fuel costs. The system was installed by Thermal Earth and can provide 186 kW of heat for the warehouse and offices.

The initial cost of the system was £110 000, and the RHI payments are expected to be £21 000 a year for 20 years.

Three Poncast KP63 wood-pellet boilers are installed in cascade, enabling one boiler to be serviced or repaired while the others continue running. Controls enable up to five heating circuits, including DHW, accumulator tanks and solar system to be run from one device.

A new radiator system along with fan-coil units into the warehouse was installed to enhance the efficiency of the new system.
