Wavin announces major manufacturing spend

Wavin, which manufactures heating, plumbing and drainage products, has announced a multi-million investment programme to create two factories in Doncaster and Chippenham. The plan follows a review of its manufacturing operations with the aim of ensuring the company and its products continue to remain highly responsive and competitive in a rapidly changing market place.

A dedicated facility for the Hep2O flexible plumbing brand will be built at Doncaster.

The factory at Chippenham will manufacturer above- and below-ground plastic drainage — focusing on the Osma brand.

As part of the proposed restructure, the extrusion facility in Brandon will be closed.

Brent Nicholls, Wavin’s managing director for south-west Europe, said, The planned changed to our manufacturing facilities in Doncaster and Chippenham will simplify our supply chain and improve the service offering to our customers. By simplifying and increasing the focus of our UK manufacturing network and supply chain, we will be aligned to the changing needs of our customers.’

Subject to employee consultation, the proposed development of the factories in Doncaster and Chippenham will be completed in phases, with work due to commence in 2015 and be completed by mid-2016.
