Gilberts delivers natural ventilation for school

Gilberts of Blackpool, natural ventilation
The key to natural ventilation in this primary school are Gilberts’ Mistrale louvres along one facade.

Natural ventilation and night-time free cooling are provided for Lake Farm Primary School in the London Borough of Hillingdon is provided by a system supplied by Gilberts of Blackpool. The system meets the council’s commitment to the Department for Children, Schools & Families sustainable-school framework.

Strategically positioned Mistrale louvres along one facade admit fresh air, which is exhausted at high level by the stack effect. Manual control in each classroom enables teachers to adjust airflow to maintain a comfortable temperature and air quality.

Colum Sheppard, project manager for JBE Mechanical Electrical, building-services provider for the scheme, said, ‘The aim was to make use of natural ventilation throughout the building as far as possible. Gilberts gave us the best value for money to achieve the brief.’
