Polypipe supplies record contract for db12 system

Polypipe, pipework, soil, drainage, plastic

Polypipe’s largest order to date for its Terrain db12 plastic piping system was for student accommodation in Islington, close to City University’s Northampton Square site. It was for over 3300 m of this engineered acoustic pipe and was specified by Dorman Engineering for soil and waste systems

The 1.5 acre Pure City site provides accommodation for 805 students across two blocks — as well as a separate sports hall and teaching accommodation. Terrain db12 in sizes of 75, 110 and 160 mm was supplied, along with thousands of associated fittings.

This triple-layer pipe system is easy to install. Co-polymer polypropylene layers and acoustically engineered fittings dampen airborne noise and transmitted sound.

Daniel Shanley, project manager with Dorman Engineering, said, ‘The benefits of db12 made it a clear winner over cast iron and traditional PVC alternatives for this project.’
