Trane’s new state-of-the-art testing facility in Epinal, France, is now fully operational. It is located in the production and design centre and will function as a validation centre for new-product development, enabling the simulation of all operating conditions encountered during the life of HVAC equipment.

Louis Rompre, portfolio manager for Trane in Europe, says, ‘Our customers demand more configurations, tiers and options than ever before, and this facility will help us meet their needs through innovation and development of products with proven performance at the top of the industry.’

This new testing centre enables customers to witness test their HVAC solutions for specific applications within customised conditions.

This 5000 m3 climate chamber can have air temperature controlled from -25°C to +60°C with RH from 10 to 90%. Water-side temperatures can be controlled from 12°C to +65°C.

Its fast and accurate control system ensures stable and homogenous testing conditions within EN 14511 and Eurovent standard requirements

The facility can test air-cooled and water-cooled chillers and multi-pipe systems from 200 to 1700 kW and heat pumps from 2000 to 1000 kW.

70% of the motors in the facility have variable-speed drives. Up to 100% of a tested unit’s rejected energy can be used to air condition the test chamber itself.
