Geberit helps stately home go green
To avoid hot works during the installation of a biomass heating system at Saltram House, a stately home in Plymouth owned by the National Trust, Geberit’s Mapress carbon-steel system was chosen. Another benefit was its ease of installation. The two boilers supply the district-heating system which provides heating and hot water to the main house and most other buildings on the site.
There are two biomass boiler, rated at 220 kW and 95 kW. They are fuelled by pellets.
‘We use Geberit Mapress on 95% of our jobs,’ said James Howard, from Dunster Biomass, which installed the system.
‘At Saltram House, the biomass system had to be installed within the confines of the existing building and its heating system, while ensuring that it could be easily removed if required. Faced with narrow doorways and cramped spaces, Geberit Mapress was the ideal solution.
‘The age of the building and cramped environment also meant that hot work was just not an option because of the fire risk. Geberit Mapress and its press-fit assembly is particularly well-suited to jobs of this nature.’
