Building Performance Show

Ken Shuttleworth, Roger Zogolovich, Sir Michael Latham and Nigel Griffiths MP are the latest leading industry figures to join chairman Sir Richard Saxon CBE in the debates at this year’s ‘Building performance is business performance’ conference at Olympia in London on 6 and 7 October. Richard Saxon says, ‘When it comes to building performance, the word “value” can be interpreted in a number of ways. These debates will pull “value” out of the “lowest-cost” category and place it firmly in the context of performance. Value equals benefit over cost. ‘Customers don’t want buildings in themselves, nor, usually, to lead their creation. They want the benefit of having the use of facilities they need without distraction from core business. We’ve designed these sessions to address “value” in the context of design, life cycle, productivity, investment and occupier needs.’ Among the issues being covered are the following. • Does design create value and for whom? • Increasing value in PFI projects. • Whole-life costing and the trade between capital and revenue. • Sustainability: balancing economic, social and environmental performance. The conference is sponsored by EC Harris, BIW, Alfred McAlpine Business Services, Arup and Honeywell. The associated exhibition has well over 100 exhibitors, including consultants, contractors, manufacturers and service providers.
