Stokvis supplies heating and fresh air system for skills centre

Trainees learning various building trades at the Erdington Skills Centre in Birmingham are benefiting from a Stokvis Econo-Air warm -air unit to provide a comfortable environment all year round. It provides heating during the winter and ample fresh air during hotter weather for a total heating and ventilating solution.
Commenting on the decision to use the DF14 VAV650 unit, the design co-ordinator for Robinson Cartwright Design, said, ‘We had previously been made aware of the Econo-Air range when we were involved with the development of a warehouse where a dozen or so people would be “picking”, but the situation did not justify choosing the Econo-Air over a standard warm-air unit or radiant panel.
‘However, when it came to the Erdington Skills Centre, which has a lot of trainees in close proximity, the ability to provide a fresh-air supply was important.
‘As it is a centre for construction-industry training, it is potentially quite a dirty environment, so having the potential to provide positive pressure and fresh air within the space helps to create a healthier environment.’
A vertical Econo-Air unit was installed on the ground floor of the workshop to warm the main teaching space and an upper mezzanine level.
