Gilberts offers new light on rooftop ventilation

Gilberts, Blackpool, ventilation, rooftop, rooflight

Gilberts Blackpool offers the option of combining a rooflight into its rooftop penthouse ventilation terminal. The option is available with standard or bespoke designs and encompasses glass or polycarbonate glazing to the top of the turret. It can be fitted to new-build or refurbishment schemes.

Providing daylight and natural ventilation with a single unit reduces building cost and potential weak spots on the roof. The concept has been installed on the Jordan Building of Liverpool University, Athlone Institute of Technology and Sandringham School’s sports hall.

Roy Jones, Gilberts’ technical director, explains, ‘Combining a ventilation terminal with a rooflight was something we designed specifically for one client, but appreciate its advantage for the wider market.’

The company’s range of roof turrets can deliver air intake and/or extract as required. They can be made to individual size requirements from 300 x 300 x 300 mm upwards. A 10 m-long special has been produced for one client. A design can be fully validated in Gilberts’ in-house laboratory before manufacture and installation. They can be powder coated to any BS/RAL colour.
