Preparing for the new Building Regulations

With the new Building Regulations requiring a 28% improvement on current performance, CIBSE’s forthcoming national conference in March is designed to help professionals throughout the industry deliver innovative approaches to the design, construction and operation of buildings. Other driving forces requiring a step change in industry performance include local planning requirements and voluntary codes. The keynote address for this 2-day event, with over 50 presentations, will be delivered by Alun Michael, MP. There will also be speakers from The Carbon Trust, Arup, ODPM, BAA, BSRIA and BIFM. The conference will provide insight into how the industry can and is meeting the challenges of creating more sustainable buildings through the various stages of development. Its scope extends from the inception/design/planning stage, taking into account all legislative requirements and competencies, through the build/construction/production phase to ensure energy efficiency in production and encouraging the use of renewable sources of energy and, finally, through to the management of the building. The event is at the Oval Cricket Ground in London on 21 and 22 March. More details and booking facilities are available online
