Star Power has provided a temporary power solution at Yeovil Hospital.

Apollo Building Contractors,
tasked with constructing a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) unit at Yeovil Hospital, required a dependable temporary power solution to support the MRI coolers during a three-month period while the main electrical infrastructure was being installed.

Ensuring a stable power supply was critical to prevent operational downtime and potential equipment damage. The primary challenge
was to deliver consistent and reliable power to the MRI unit’s cooling systems, mitigating the risk of power trips that could adversely affect the sensitive and expensive medical equipment. Additionally, the solution needed to accommodate the high power demands of the MRI unit during peak operational periods.

After conducting a comprehensive site survey and consulting closely with Apollo Building Contractors, Star Power provided a tailored power solution comprising two 200kVA generators and a Dunarey Flybrid unit. The Flybrid system, which stores energy mechanically in a rapidly spinning flywheel, is known for its ability
to smooth out power fluctuations and deliver high bursts of energy when required.

This configuration ensured that the MRI unit received uninterrupted power, eliminating the need for oversized generators and enhancing overall efficiency during the construction work.
