17-year old boilers refurbished with new controls

During the restoration of the Royal Devonshire Hospital by the University of Derby, these Atlantic boilers, originally commissioned in 1988, were found to be in such good condition that they were retained and given new controls. They were among the fist generation of Atlantic high-efficiency and condensing boilers installed and now serve contemporary radiators and a large underfloor heating system. The premises were formerly the horse stables of the Duke of Derbyshire. Existing services routes in the old masonry were used as much as possible. New cabling was installed to reduce damage to the original fabric. Mechanical cooling was limited to some IT rooms, with most other spaces naturally ventilated.
