Ideal Stelrad gears up for Atlantic challenge

One of the fancied challengers in this year’s Route du Rhum single-handed trans-Atlantic yacht race is Ideal Stelrad, skippered by Ross Hobson.
Ideal Stelrad is the main sponsor for a single-handed yacht crossing of the Atlantic Ocean from St Malo in France to Guadeloupe in the Caribbean. The challenge is being undertaken by international yachtsman and world record holder Ross Hobson and covers 3500 miles. The 2006 race has the largest starting line-up for 30 years, with 85 yachts representing eight nationalities. Ross Hobson has many thousands of miles at the helm of the boat Ideal Stelrad. He is world record holder for the Atlantic crossing from Bermuda to Plymouth. He also won the 50 ft multi-hull class in the Transat Jacques Vabre 2003 and was overall winner in the double-handed Round Britain & Ireland Race 2002.
