Solray provides hygienic heating for hospital development

Salisbury
A new £24 million development at Salisbury District Hospital uses over 570 Solray radiant panel heaters for a hygienic and low-maintenance heating solution
Hygienic, low-maintenance heating is provided in a recently opened £24 million development at Salisbury District Hospital by Solray radiant panels installed in ceilings. They were supplied by Comyn Ching. The new development houses the regional burns unit, three wards for the care of the elderly, plastic surgery, Maxillo facial outpatients, medical photography, speech therapy and a laser treatment centre. There are also two orthopaedic wards, orthopaedic and plastic-surgery therapy services and accommodation for the medical secretaries. Heating is provided by over 570 Solray FDM panels in the ceilings. Compared with other forms of heating, there are no corners or ledges where bacteria and dust can accumulate. They also create far less dust and air movement. David Haffner of TSSR Contracts, explains, ‘We went through a process of selection and comparison, including sample evaluation, technical data, cost and installability. Solray panels came out on top. They offer simple installation, are lighter than most and, as they are partly manufactured on site, greater flexibility too.’
